It is my privilege to be the recently appointed Principal of Rochestown Community Special School (Rochestown CSS), which is due to open in 2023. Rochestown CSS is a community special school that will provide for the needs of students with autism and complex learning needs, and for students with complex learning needs who require the support of a special school under the patronage of Cork ETB. It caters for children from the beginning of Primary school up to eighteen years of age. The school’s temporary building will be located on the grounds of Garryduff Sports Centre, Rochestown.
Our staff recruitment process is well under way and we have already appointed a small team of high quality, dedicated teachers who are working hard to establish a school which will provide a kind and caring ethos, where children are supported to achieve their true potential. We are committed to meeting the educational and developmental needs of the children under our guidance through excellence in teaching and learning, and through the excellent facilities that are currently being developed. Rochestown CSS will strive to provide all students with equal opportunities to engage in learning and in school life.
Our school will be a place where everyone is encouraged to feel a sense of belonging and ownership. The school will actively seek to promote an ethos where all members of the school community are valued and are encouraged to actively contribute to school life. Parental involvement will be crucial to the smooth running of our school community and Rochestown CSS will endeavour to ensure that all members of the school community work in partnership together and will always have the best interest of our students at heart.
We look forward to welcoming our new students and parents to our school once it officially opens in 2023.
